La Grande Maison is a family run bed and breakfast, chambres d'hote situated in a country position in central Brittany, about 6 kms from Carhaix.
It is in a convenient position for the channel ports of Roscoff and St Malo, making it well placed for overnight stops on your way south, or to break the journey on the way back home.
Being in central Brittany and within easy traveling distance from Roscoff and St Malo it is an ideal place for short breaks and weekend breaks, as well as longer stays, to explore the Brittany countryside and coasts.
Being in Central Brittany it is also perfect as a bed and breakfast base while you search for that dream home in Brittany.
The chambres d'hote is set in one hectare of land with all the bedrooms and the guest lounge enjoying extensive views over the surrounding central Brittany countryside. The coasts of Brittany (north, south and west) are about an hours drive away and provide a variety of different coastlines and beaches.
The area is ideally situated for short breaks from the U.K. as well as longer stays. Activities available nearby include walking, cycling, golfing and fishing. La Grande Maison is situated next to a disused Chemin de Fer, now used by walkers and cyclists, that connects the towns of Carhaix and Rostrenen, a distance of about 18 kilometres. For the more ambitious there are GR (Grande Randonnee) routes throughout Brittany.
We offer comfortable bedrooms, some of which have an en-suite shower room. There is a guest lounge and dining room where coffee and tea facilities are available. Guests are also invited to enjoy the garden.
We can provide home cooked evening meals, including vegetarian menus, by arrangement, using our own produce when available.
We are open all year for overnight stays, short breaks, weekend breaks and longer stays.
Pets are welcome.
Please note that for the comfort of other guests smoking is not allowed in the house.

Room1: Double bed, en-suite facilities
Room2: Double bed, shared bathroom and toilet
Room3: Double bed, shared bathroom and toilet (with Room2). A single bed settee can be added to make this a twin bedded room.
Room4: Double bed, en-suite facilities. We have a double bed settee in this room, so can be used as a twin bedded room or a family room.
We also have a travel cot available, which can be placed in any of the rooms
