Enjoy fabulous holidays all year round at Chalet L'Horizon. Privately owned, situated at 1100m in the French Alps and directly facing Mont Blanc, we offer self-catering accommodation for parties of 2-10 people within a eight-person apartment and two-person chalet. Either can be booked separately or as a package. Both have free wireless internet access.
Winter skiing facilities are extensive. The ski passes offer a choice of three resorts: St. Gervais/St. Nicholas de Veroce, Megève and Les Contamines. Off-piste powder skiing can be learnt at Les Contamines whilst the experts can head up to the glaciers.
In summer, enjoy unlimited walking with access to the higher areas via the ski lift network. A vast range of activities is available in the area, including paragliding, rafting, canyoning, rock climbing, swimming in the lakes and mountain biking.
St. Gervais is famed for its thermal baths, which provide a wide range of beauty treatments and specialise in skincare. The town also provides a range of passes for the open-air pool, ice-skating rink, crazy golf, tennis courts and ski lifts. The accomodation consists of a large 3 bedroomed apartment situated on the ground floor of the chalet, and a separate studio. The apartment has its own decking terrace looking south-east straight across the valley to Mont Blanc. The surface area of the apartment is 70sq m, with 3 double bedrooms, a large living room and a fully fitted kitchen. There is electric central heating which is controlled by the tenants and is included in the price.
The first bedroom, with a double bed, has an en suite shower room and WC. The second bedroom has either double or twin beds, and the third bedroom is fitted with bunk beds. There is a second separate shower room and WC.
There is a large living room with a sofa-bed, and it is also possible to put a further bed in here. A TV is provided. Double doors from the living room lead to the terrace. The dining table seats eight comfortably. The kitchen is fully fitted and includes a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, raclette set and oven with four hot plates. There is a secure ski rack by the door.
The first bedroom, with a double bed, has an en suite shower room and WC. The second bedroom has either double or twin beds, and the third bedroom is fitted with bunk beds. There is a second separate shower room and WC.

The Studio Apartment
The studio is a small freestanding chalet, consisting of one room. It contains one double or 2 single beds. A TV and DVD are also provided. One corner is fitted as the kitchen, with fridge, sink, hot plates and a small oven/grill. Heating as above. The shower and WC are separate from the main room.

The ski area is huge, and links directly to that of Megève. In St Gervais there are 2 kindergardens next to the ski schools, and then several choices of lift pass, the largest of which includes St Gervais, St Nicholas, Megève and Les Contamines. This area covers 445 Km of piste, with a total of 113 lifts.
A range of alternative Winter sports, including cross-country skiing, ice climbing, tobogganing and guided snowshoe expeditions can also be arranged. The Compagnie Des Guides caters for all tastes.

Skiing From Chalet L'Horizon
Mountain Walking: There are huge facilities for rambling and walking in the area; there are over 50 refuge huts on the Mont Blanc massif alone. Serious walkers can also do all or part of the famous Tour de Mont Blanc; alternatively, from the chalet, you can walk along the Sentier de Baroque which links 20 baroque churches and chapels in all the neighbouring villages. Via the ski lift network, you can reach all the high ridges and spend the entire day at the top of the mountains. Alternatively for climbers as well as walkers, you can travel up Mont Blanc to the Nid d'Aigle, via the rack and pinion railway which was built in 1901. In Chamonix, half an hour from the chalet, one can take the lifts up to the glaciers and visit the ice caves of the Mer De Glace. See www.compagniedumontblanc.com for more details.
Mountain Biking: There is an extensive network of mountain biking trails in the area and the ski lifts provide access to the higher routes. Bikes can be hired in St. Gervais for the novice, or you can bring your own.
Tennis: The clay tennis courts in St. Gervais are some of the best in France. The town hosts a Men's satellite tournament in July every year for the enthusiast to watch, and also invites all visitors to social tournaments run by the club coach. These usually have a nominal entry fee and are followed by a barbecue.
Swimming: St. Gervais has a huge heated open-air swimming pool, but the real delight is the swimming available in the mountain lakes in the summer. The largest lake is ten minutes drive away and is a popular spot to sunbathe, windsurf or swim.
Other sports: Horse riding is very popular: there are plenty of places in the high pasture lands where one can hire horses. We can provide details of companies on request. Closer to home, St. Gervais has an olympic-sized ice rink with public sessions and the chance to watch high-level ice hockey matches.
All the children who come to the area enjoy spending a day or more on the Aero-Park assault course. This is very well constructed, with routes through the forest and zip lines across the lake, all carefully monitored by qualified instructors and with safety harnesses for all participants.
The Thermal Baths in St. Gervais also deserve a special mention. The waters here have been famous for over a century; for relaxation, to pamper yourself with a massage or for the specialist skincare they provide, the baths are open all year round.
