Welcome to Hotel de la Fontaine
A Taste of Catalonia offers you the chance to explore the beautiful area of the Pyrenees Orientales, the south west corner of France. Based in Olette, we will share with you our love of the scenic region and our passion for good food and wine.
Chambres d'hôte ( Bed and Breakfast), La Fontaine offers comfortable en-suite rooms overlooking the village square. The village is situated on the N116, 50 kilometres west of Perpignan on the route to Andorra and Spain.
Ideally situated for hill walking, skiing, sight seeing, ancient monuments, the Pablo Casals concert season, and all the charms that the Catalan offers
Chambres d'hôte ( Bed and Breakfast), La Fontaine offers comfortable en-suite rooms overlooking the village square. The village is situated on the N116, 50 kilometres west of Perpignan on the route to Andorra and Spain.

Bedrooms
The 19th Century, La Fontaine, with its pretty pink facade, is located on the village square. The village fountain runs underneath the house. Facing south-west, La Fontaine enjoys sun for much of the day. We have five double rooms (non-smoking), some with room for an extra bed. Each room has a very comfortable bed, feather filled duvets, an ensuite shower room and a television.
Lounge
A large and comfortable lounge is the ideal spot to relax from the day’s activity and exertions. English satellite television is available. Why not sit on the terrace under the ancient glycines, whilst soaking up the sun and atmosphere of typical village life?
Dining Room
Residents will be offered a three-course table d’hote meal, in our dining room overlooking the village square. Relax with your coffee on the spacious balcony. We will be serving a weekly barbecue on the terrace. You can cook lunch on the barbecue, if you feel like a day off activities or sightseeing.
Olette
The village has a bar, mini-market, pharmacist, butcher, newsagent/tobacconist and weekly market. Le Petit Train Jaune station is close by, as is the picturesque church that is well worth a visit. There is a choice of walks and rambles starting and finishing from the village.

La Fontaine
Olette lies some 30 miles west of Perpignan in the Pyrenees Orientales region of the Languedoc Roussillon department. It is set in an unique area of south-west France/north-east Spain called Catalonia. The town is on the border between the plains of Roussillon (famous for its wines) and the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is dominated by the sacred mountain of le Canigou, the spiritual home of the Catalonians.
Unique is the correct word, Catalonia has its own language and a history of interaction between France and Spain. Mountains, plains and the Mediterranean offer the perfect mix that lets walkers, skiers, those who enjoy country life and good food to experience nature to the full. In short, a perfect holiday destination.
No matter the season, Catalonia remains full of interest. Hot in the height summer, cool in the depths of winter, the area enjoys an above average 300 sunny days per year. You may find, like we did, that you fall in love with Catalonia, that you want to stay forever and buy the ideal retreat.
Rich in tradition and history the area captivates and intrigues all who visit. The Spanish border,the Mediterranean and some Pyrenean ski resorts are within 40 minutes by car. As well as a large, busy weekly market in nearby Prades there are banks, shops, bars and restaurants. Enjoy fantastic walks, such as the dramatic and challenging Caranca Gorge, which is located 10 minutes from us by car. After your walk why not relax in the thermal baths at St Thomas les Bains or enjoy a scenic journey on Le Petit Train Jaune?
One of the area's best kept secrets is that it is home to not one, but four winners of the prettiest villages in France contest. They are Eus, Villefranche-de-Conflent, Mosset and Castlenou. All the beautiful villages are within half an hour or less of the hotel.
