Welcome to Logis La Cabane Gites in the Charente
We named this gite after the tiny, vivid green tree frogs which are often found here during the summer. Hard to spot, they
can be heard croaking with happiness (we assume!) when they are able to cool off under the garden sprinklers.
La Grenouille is perfect for couples. It is spacious and sunny and has a good sized bedroom with plenty of space to add a cot or bed for a small child. There is central heating, TV/DVD, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, in fact everything you are likely to need, plus your own private terrace with garden furniture and barbecue, for sitting, reading and relaxing.

Surrounded by vines and sunflowers, three comfortable gites providing accomodation for between two and five people. Ideal for holidays or when house hunting.
Each gite has it's own character and they are on three different sides of our gardened courtyard. Living in the main house with our family we are usually available if you should need us
La Cabane, on the border of the Charente Maritime (17) and Charente (16) departements, is only 4 to 5 hours drive from the Channel ports, just over an hour from the La Rochelle air port and an hour and a half from Bordeaux. Check out the low cost airlines such as Ryanair, Flybe, BMIbaby and even British Airways have some good deals if you book in advance.
We are ideally situated with so many things to see and do that you probably won't have time to try them all

La Sorciere - sleeps 4-5
A wonderful old farmhouse, dateing from the 17th century, set in two acres of gardens, meadows and orchard
This gite owes it's name to the witch weather vane on the roof.
La Sorciere sleeps up to five (4 + baby or small child) in two upstairs bedrooms. It has creamy exposed stone walls, old beams
and a traditional Charentaise
stone fireplace with an efficient wood burning stove for cooler months.
Very comfortable and fully equipped with TV/DVD, garden furniture,barbecue, fridge, cooker, microwave etc... plus a
utility room with washing machine.

La Grenouille - sleeps 2-3
Le Figuier - sleeps 5-6
Le Figuier is named for the fig trees that seem to spring up here all by themselves.They thrive in the sun and the figs are simply delicious.
At the far end of the courtyard, with windows on both sides, we have used calm neutral colours that reflect the wonderful light and space of this gite. Sleeping up to 5 plus a baby comfortably, Le Figuier is very well equipped with dishwasher,washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave plus all the little things like toaster, coffee maker etc. There is also TV/DVD and music centre with CD,radio and MP3.
Upstairs you’ll find a shower/WC and two bedrooms, one with twin beds, the other with a king sized bed plus a full sized day bed, making it good to use as a family room. We can provide a cot if needed
Open the French windows, light the barbeque and pour yourself a glass of wine. Relax in your South facing garden with a wonderfull view over the meadow. Eat under the shade of the gazebo, read that book at last or simply lie and dream. For most of the summer we can count on clear blue skies and at night the lack of light pollution makes for amazing stargazing. How about some shooting stars? Just look up and start counting....

Stroll along grassy meadow pathways, sample the cherries and plums.
Children usually prefer a little more action and will be kept happily occupied with all the things to do here at La Cabane.
A 10x5 metre heated pool will be ready for summer 2008, along with a toddlers paddling pool, a sandpit and a selection of toys.
We also have table tenis, french boules, an area in the meadow for playing football, swings and slide plus bikes to borrow free of charge
